The marina was originally named Marina West. In 1985 the site was converted from a solely owned property to a condominium marina and the name was changed to Harborview Marina. The change to a condominium style marina allowed for individual slip ownership with exclusive rights to its use, including the rights to use common area elements that were once private.

On August 31, 2005, the marina suffered a devastating fire. As a result, the entire covered dock and 50 vessels were lost. The multiyear cleanup and rebuild that followed allowed the marina to restructure with a more fire resistant design, uniform slip sizes, and the build out of many modern amenities including a pump out station and AV infrastructure.
